Our commitment to teacher training
As a Trust we are committed to ensuring that we have the very best teachers in our classrooms teaching your children. As part of our commitment, we work in partnership with Teach First to offer a teacher training programme which focuses on developing and training teachers in best practice through various methods and mentoring.
As part of the teacher training programme, IRIS Connect, a well established teacher training tool allows a classroom teacher to record their lesson (or a section of it) to allow them to reflect on their practice in order to increase the effectiveness of their teaching. These recordings are encrypted and stored within a secure app and cannot be viewed, shared or edited. They will only be viewed by the trainee teacher, their mentor and specific staff/professionals who are assisting their development and will be deleted once the session has been reviewed.
As we are collecting data which may include your child’s image/voice, we wanted to inform you that our lawful basis, under the Data Protection Act 2018 to do this, is that there is a legitimate interest to record these sessions.
As mentioned above, the recordings will only be used as part of the teacher training programme, the videos will be reviewed to improve quality of teaching and will not be used to monitor students in any way, including their behaviour.
